49ers OL Trent Williams, Aaron Banks, Jaylon Moore won't return this season
49ers left tackle Trent Williams will not return this season.
49ers left tackle Trent Williams will not return this season.
The 49ers are out of postseason contention, and Williams' balky ankle hasn't healed enough for him to get back before the season ends in two weeks.
"He won’t be playing in these next two games," 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. "He hasn't been able to improve enough to get him out there, and we don't see that happening enough in these two weeks, especially with the situation we're in."
Williams has missed the past five games with his injury.
He missed two games in 2023, and the 49ers are 1-6 in the games he has missed the past two seasons.
Williams, 36, made his 11th Pro Bowl last season and was All-Pro for a third consecutive season.
The 49ers also won't have left guard Aaron Banks and left tackle Jaylon Moore the last two games, Shanahan said. Banks has a medial collateral ligament injury in his knee and Moore has a quad strain.
Guard Spencer Burford (calf) underwent an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of his injury.
