Andy Reid: Carson Wentz should be starting somewhere, he's a heck of a player

If Carson Wentz has to start for the Chiefs on Saturday against the Texans, he's capable of leading them to a win.

That's the word from Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who says that if Patrick Mahomes' ankle injury keeps him out of Saturday's game, Wentz has the full confidence of his teammates and coaches.

"He's started in the league and been successful," Reid said. "He's got a great feel for this offense. Very smart, big arm, I like the way he carries himself, I like everything about him. He should be starting in this league somewhere. He's a heck of a player."

Wentz, who replaced Mahomes on Sunday against the Browns and completed both his pass attempts, looked like a future star early in his career in Philadelphia but hasn't played like an elite quarterback in a long time. The Chiefs certainly hope they don't need to rely on Wentz to win big games for them down the stretch, but Reid believes they can win even without Mahomes.
