Are local/small gym coaches bums?

This isn't my own opinion, but something i've heard a few times enough to wonder if it's true. I watched a video about fighters never going pro or making it past entry level fighters in second/third tier orgs (not just in MMA), and because of that they turned to "running a small shitty gym where they get paid 20bucks a class to teach kids". My coaches are amazing coaches, not necessarily in terms of skill since I'm unsure about that, but in terms of transferring knowledge it's great. Been training kickboxing for a while and they've done nothing but motivate and puah me further. Same with my former BJJ coach at the same gym. Amazing Dutch lady with quite a trackrecord (multiple national competitions, trained in brazil and japan, trained quite a few champs both regional and national). I'm just surprised if most coaches are really just bums who amounted to nothing and ressortes to coaching. submitted by /u/yeahitsokk [link] [comments]
