The Chicago Blackhawks are set to get a boost from a pair of recent first-rounders.
Chicago announced Saturday that it has signed forward Oliver Moore and defenceman Sam Rinzel to three-year, entry-level contracts. Both deals carry a $950,000 cap hit.
Moore and Rinzel recently finished their NCAA seasons with the University of Minnesota and are expected to make their NHL debuts Sunday against Utah Hockey Club, according to Daily Faceoff‘s Frank Seravalli.
Moore, 20, had 12 goals and 21 assists over 38 games for the Gophers in 2024-25. He also suited up for the U.S. at the 2025 world juniors, registering five points in seven games.
The left-shot forward was drafted 19th overall by the Blackhawks in the 2023 draft.
Rinzel, 20, was picked 25th overall by Chicago in the 2022 draft.
The six-foot-five blue-liner registered 10 goals and 32 points for the Gophers in 2024-25 while skating in 40 games. He was named the Big 10 defensive player of the year.
With nine games remaining on their schedule, the Blackhawks currently own the second-worst record in the NHL, so Moore and Rinzel will get the chance to get their feet wet at the next level to wrap up the season.
