Blues’ Philip Broberg exits vs. Maple Leafs with lower-body injury
Philip Broberg suffered a lower-body injury in the second period and will not return to the game, the team announced.
The St. Louis Blues will be down a defenceman for the remainder of their Saturday matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Philip Broberg suffered a lower-body injury in the second period and will not return to the game, the team announced.
The injury happened about halfway through the second period, when Broberg appeared to be tangled up with Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner. The 23-year-old defenceman lost his footing and fell awkwardly.
Broberg immediately grabbed his right leg and appeared to be in significant pain. He was able to leave the ice with the help of teammates.
Broberg was acquired by the Blues in the off-season, along with Dylan Holloway, when the team signed both former Edmonton Oilers to offer sheets. In 11 games for the Blues, he seems to have found his game, potting two goals and seven assists.
