Browns will stick with Jameis Winston at QB vs. Chiefs

While the Browns were officially eliminated from playoff contention with Sunday’s loss to the Steelers, they won’t be making a change at quarterback in Week 15.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters in his Monday news conference that Jameis Winston will continue to start when the club faces the Chiefs next Sunday.

“For me, and for us, we’re just going to continue to do everything we can to play better,” Stefanski said. “Obviously, I think we can play better on offense. Certainly, as a team, we can play better. But, really, the focus is making sure we put our guys in position to find a way to win.”

The Browns do have second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who could merit a look at some point for the future. But when asked on Monday if there could come a time for Thompson-Robinson to play, Stefanski said that’s not where his mind is.

“Yeah, my line of thinking, really, is about Kansas City and this week. That’s where I’ll really focus,” Stefanski said.

Stefanski noted linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will remain out this week with a neck injury. Cornerback Greg Newsome is set to miss time with a hamstring injury, though Stefanski did not specify how much. Receiver Cedrick Tillman remains in the concussion protocol. And defensive tackle Mike Hall may be able to start practicing, as he’s eligible to come off injured reserve this week.
