Bruins’ Brad Marchand out vs. Wild with upper-body injury

After losing their captain in Saturday’s win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Boston Bruins will be without Brad Marchand as they take on the Minnesota Wild Sunday afternoon.

Bruins head coach Joe Sacco told reporters before the game that Marchand will miss the game with an upper-body injury.

“There’s really nothing to report yet. He’s out today,” Sacco said. “We’ll know more when he gets evaluated when we get back to Boston.”

Marchand left in the first period against Pittsburgh after he was hit from behind by Pierre-Olivier Joseph. The incident occurred at 5:56 into the game with the Bruins leading 1-0.

Marchand’s legs appeared to give out as he fell head and shoulders first awkwardly into the boards. He remained down and had to be helped off the ice.

The 36-year-old Marchand is second on the Bruins in scoring this season with 21 goals and 47 points. He also had one goal in four games to help Canada win the 4 Nations Face-Off last month.
