Bryce Young runs Panthers to 13-3 lead

The Panthers named Bryce Young their starting quarterback for the rest of the season this week and he's responded with a strong first half against Arizona.

Young ran 34 yards to put the Panthers into Arizona territory in the second quarter of Sunday's game in Charlotte and then sprinted 23 yards for a touchdown a short time later. Eddy Pineiro missed the extra point, so Carolina has a 3-0 lead with more than 10 minutes to play in the first half.

Young has three carries for 62 yards overall and the Panthers have 121 yards on two touchdown drives to open the game.

The Cardinals looked like they might be driving for a touchdown of their own when James Conner converted a fourth down, but a holding penalty led them to settle for a field goal. The Cardinals have eight penalties for 68 yards already on Sunday, so their sloppiness is working against their bid to remain in the playoff hunt.
