Buccaneers to sign LB Deion Jones to practice squad

Veteran linebacker Deion Jones is joining his third NFC South team.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jones is signing with Tampa Bay’s practice squad.

The Buccaneers are dealing with multiple injuries at linebacker and need the depth. As noted by Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the club played 25 snaps in Sunday’s win over the Raiders with just one linebacker on the field.

Jones, 30, was most recently with the Bills during the offseason program and training camp, though he was released in late August.

A Falcons second-round pick in 2016, Jones appeared in 85 games with 83 starts for Atlanta through the 2021 season. He spent 2022 with Cleveland and 2023 with Carolina.

He’s recorded 12.0 sacks, five forced fumbles, 13 interceptions, and 53 passes defensed in 109 career games.
