The Buccaneers downgraded tight end Cade Otton to out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, the team announced. He was questionable with a knee injury after two missed practices and a limited practice Friday.
Otton did not travel with the team.
He has 59 receptions for 600 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Payne Durham, Ko Kieft and Devin Culp are behind Otton on the depth chart.
The Bucs also announced they activated punter Jack Browning from the practice squad. It is his final elevation of the season.
Browning will handle the Buccaneers' punting duties for the third week in a row after they waived Trenton Gill on Dec. 2. He has three punts for a 42.7-yard gross average and a 32.7-yard net average. Browning has also handled kickoff duties, hitting eight of his 14 kicks into the end zone to force five touchbacks.
He also has held on 12 successful placekicks — four field goals and eight extra points.
Browning is the Bucs' third punter of the season, following Gill and Jake Camarda. If he is to continue in that role for the remainder of the regular season, the Bucs will have to sign him to the active roster.
