Team Canada has decided to change its scheduled practice to an optional skate after arriving late in Boston Sunday morning.
A snowstorm impacting parts of Ontario and Quebec caused a late departure from Montreal following Saturday’s game against Boston. The conditions in Boston were also not ideal, with freezing rain in the forecast, which likely added to the travel delays.
As Sportsnet’s Luke Fox reports, Canada did not arrive at their hotel until 6 a.m. ET.
What will be important to watch at practice is whether defenceman Cale Makar will be on the ice after missing Saturday’s game against the USA with an illness.
Canada faces a critical game Monday as they will need a regulation win against Finland in order to secure a spot against the U.S. in the 4 Nations Face-Off final.

“The result’s unfortunate,” head coach Jon Cooper said after the game. “But I don’t think anybody can leave that building and say that team didn’t stick up for each other, care for each other, and play with a passion. And when you do have that, the ceiling is limitless what the team can do. I’m extremely proud of the guys.
