Canadiens’ Kirby Dach out for season after undergoing knee surgery

Kirby Dach will, unfortunately, have another season cut short.

The Montreal Canadiens forward is set to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign after undergoing knee surgery, the team announced Friday.

According to the Canadiens, Dach is expected to make a full recovery and should be available before the start of next season.

Dach missed the team’s last two games with what the team called a lower-body injury.

Before his first absence against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday, Dach had not missed a game this year for the Canadiens after ACL and MCL tears limited him to just two a season ago.

In 57 games this year, he has 10 goals and 22 points.

Over his six-year career in the NHL since being selected third overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2019, Dach has yet to play more than 70 games.

The Canadiens are currently 28-26-5 and sit seventh in the Atlantic division. They are five points back of the Columbus Blue Jackets for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
