It was a night to forget for Sam Montembeault.
The Montreal Canadiens goaltender was pulled early in the second period after allowing five goals against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday.
The Kraken opened the game with four goals in the first 10 minutes, putting the Canadiens on their heels. Cole Caufield’s ninth goal of the season cut the lead to 4-1 before the intermission but Brandon Montour ended Montembeault’s night with a power-play goal early in the second.
In the end, Montembeault allowed five goals on 10 shots. He was replaced by Cayden Primeau.
Montembeault entered the game with a .914 save percentage and three wins in six starts. This is the second time this season he has been pulled from a start.
