Canadiens’ Patrik Laine out vs. Canucks with virus

The Montreal Canadiens will continue their West coast road trip without Patrick Laine on Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canucks.

Laine, after missing Saturday’s game against the Calgary Flames because of illness, will miss Tuesday night’s action with a virus as well.

The star forward has 14 goals and 24 points in 34 games in his first season with the Canadiens. The 26-year-old is averaging 14:26 of ice time per night.

Laine missed the start of the season due to a knee sprain injury he suffered during a pre-season matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He made his return in December when he played his first regular-season game for the Canadiens.

Although Laine has been battling this illness since the weekend, Montreal head coach Martin St. Louis has said he might rejoin the team on the ice tomorrow.

The winger did skate on Tuesday morning, but there was no morning skate for the rest of the team.
