Canucks recall G Arturs Silovs from AHL, assign G Ty Young
Vancouver has recalled Arturs Silovs from AHL Abbotsford and in a corresponding move, is assigning fellow goaltender Ty Young, the team announced Monday.
The Canucks are pivoting back to Arturs Silovs, one day after assigning him to the minors.
Vancouver has recalled the Latvian goaltender from AHL Abbotsford, and in a corresponding move, is assigning fellow goaltender Ty Young to the minor-league side, the team announced Monday.
Silovs was assigned to Abbotsford on Sunday and started between the pipes in a game against the Bakersfield Condors. He allowed two goals on 25 shots to help Abbotsford to a win.
The 23-year-old, months after becoming one of the best stories of the 2024 playoffs, has struggled to replicate his post-season performance. He has appeared in four games, including in relief of Kevin Lankinen on Saturday night, but he remains winless.
He owns a 4.77 goals-against average and .808 save percentage, mostly serving as backup to Lankinen while starting goaltender Thatcher Demko rehabs an injury. Silovs last started Oct. 30 against the New Jersey Devils, but allowed six goals on 22 shots.
Young, a goaltending prospect, got the call-up to the big-league club on Sunday but will head back to Abbotsford without having made a start.
In two starts for the Kalamazoo Wings in the ECHL, Young owns a .974 save percentage and a 1.01 goals-against average.
The Canucks look to bounce back from a 7-3 home loss when they take on the Flames at Rogers Arena on Tuesday.
