Canucks sign forward Linus Karlsson to one-year contract

The Vancouver Canucks have agreed to a one-year, $775,000 contract extension with forward Linus Karlsson, the team announced Friday.

Karlsson has one goal in nine games with the Canucks this season. He has spent the majority of the year with the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League and has recorded 32 points (19 goals and 13 assists) in 28 games.

“Linus has worked very hard on his development the past few seasons in Abbotsford and has also shown he can compete at the NHL level,” Vancouver general manager Patrik Allvin said in a release. “He has good size and hands around the net, and we really like the way he competes on the ice.”

Karlsson was drafted in the third round, 87th overall, by the San Jose Sharks in 2018. He was traded to the Canucks in February 2019 for centre Jonathan Dahlen.

The 25-year-old from Esko, Sweden, made his NHL debut with the Canucks last season, appearing in four games.

He signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Canucks last summer.
