The Vancouver Canucks will be without their starting goaltender when the NHL schedule resumes this weekend.
The team announced that Thatcher Demko will not travel on an upcoming five-game road trip due to a lower-body injury.
The Canucks returned to practice on Tuesday after the 4 Nations Face-Off break but Demko was not on the ice. He was forced to leave his final start before the break on Feb. 8 with an injury, but at the time head coach Rick Tocchet said the injury was not serious or related to his knee.
Demko missed most of the playoffs last spring and the first two months of this season with a knee injury. He has a 2.87 goals-against average and a .891 save percentage in 17 appearances on the year.
The Canucks open their five-game road trip at Vegas on Saturday and then make stops in Utah, Los Angeles, Anaheim and Seattle during the following week.
