The Vancouver Canucks‘ front office is staying busy.

The team announced on Friday that defenceman Mark Friedman has been traded to the Nashville Predators in exchange for future considerations.

Friedman, 29, has spent the majority of the 2024-25 season in the AHL with the Abbotsford Canucks, where he’s recorded one goal and five assists in 20 games.

Over his five appearances with Vancouver this season, he has failed to record a point and is a minus-4.

A native of Toronto, Friedman was originally drafted by the Philadelpia Flyers as the 86th overall pick in 2014.

Across 93 career NHL games with the Flyers, Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins, he has a total of 13 points (four goals, nine assists).

Vancouver acquired Friedman from Pittsburgh in October 2023 in a trade that also saw them receive Ty Glover while sending away Jack Rathbone and Karel Plasek. The Canucks signed him to one-year deal worth $775,000 this past off-season.
