Even the NHL’s all-time leading scorer needs a day off every once in a while.

Alex Ovechkin will not be in the lineup for Washington as it takes on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery told reporters, according to The Washington Post‘s Bailey Johnson.

There are no injury concerns, Johnson added.

Forward Ethen Frank draws into the lineup for the Russian winger. Frank, 27, has four goals and three assists in 22 NHL games this season.

On the blue line, Jakob Chychrun will not play as he continues to deal with an illness that also sidelined him on Thursday, while Alex Alexeyev draws in for Dylan McIlrath.

Meanwhile, Hunter Shepard is set to make his Capitals season debut. The 29-year-old goalie made his NHL debut last year, recording a 3.19 goals-against average and an .894 save percentage in four games.

In 39 games this season with Hershey of the American Hockey League, Shepard owns a 2.81 GAA and .891 save percentage.
