Chiefs get their 11th one-possession win of the season, tying an NFL record

The Chiefs' 27-19 win over the Texans today was the 11th time this season they've won a game by eight points or less. That puts them in some very rare company.

The only other team in NFL history to win 11 one-possession games in a season was the 2022 Vikings, who also won 11 games by eight points or less.

If the Chiefs win either of their remaining two games (at Pittsburgh and at Denver) by eight or less, they'll have the single-season record for one-possession wins to themselves.

Relying on close wins didn’t end up well for the 2022 Vikings, who finished the regular season 13-4 but lost at home in the wild card round of the playoffs. The Chiefs will hope they can keep doing enough to win in the postseason — and maybe not need to pull wins out in the fourth quarter.
