Colorado star Travis Hunter wins Heisman Trophy

Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, capping a college career that included the Bednarik and Biletnoikoff awards.

Hunter received 552 first-place votes and 2,231 total points to beat out Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, who received 309 first-place votes and 2,017 points. Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel (24, 516) and Miami quarterback Cam Ward (6, 229) were third and fourth respectively.

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the son of coach Deion Sanders, finished eighth.

Rashaan Salaam is the only other Buffs player to win the Heisman, taking it home in 1994.

Hunter earned first-team All-Big 12 as a receiver and honorable mention for offensive player of the year. He leads the conference with 92 receptions and 14 receiving touchdowns and his 1,152 receiving yards is second.

His 21 receiving plays of 20-plaus yards lead the nation.

He took home the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's best receiver.

Hunter was the Big 12 defensive player of the year and a unanimous first-team defensive back after totaling 31 tackles, 11 pass breakups and four interceptions.

The Bednarik Award goes to the nation's best defensive player.

He also won the Walter Camp Award as college football's player of the year.

Hunter is a candidate to be the No. 1 overall pick in April's NFL draft.
