Dan Quinn: Jonathan Allen is "built different," doesn't look like he had surgery
When defensive lineman Jonathan Allen tore his pectoral in October, the word from the Commanders was that he would not return to action until next season but things have played out differently than expected in Washington.
When defensive lineman Jonathan Allen tore his pectoral in October, the word from the Commanders was that he would not return to action until next season but things have played out differently than expected in Washington.
Allen returned to the practice field this week and is trying to work his way back into the lineup ahead of what the team hopes will be a trip to the postseason. Allen called Wednesday "a really good day for me and a good first day" of what he expects will be a day-to-day process of working himself into playing shape.
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn thinks Allen looks a lot closer to that point than anyone would have expected.
"He looked not like a person that had this surgery,” Quinn said, via Ben Standig of TheAthletic.com. “Usually, you see a lot less on one side. . . . He’s built different for sure.”
The Commanders got cornerback Marshon Lattimore in the lineup for the first time last Sunday and adding Allen would be another boost for a defense that's trying to finish strong in the NFC.
