Dan Quinn on Marshon Lattimore: Strong communication a silver lining to delayed debut

Cornerback Marshon Lattimore finally made his Commanders debut in Week 15, although you wouldn't know it from looking at the stat sheet.

Lattimore played 53-of-55 snaps in the 20-19 win, but did not have any tackles, passes defensed, interceptions or other statistics that landed him on the box score. On Monday, head coach Dan Quinn said that having a clean stat sheet in the passing game "is a clear signal of a really good game" and he added that he thinks Lattimore's layoff with a hamstring injury made a positive difference in allowing him to get integrated into the defense.

"I was pleased with the communication for his first time," Quinn said, via a transcript from the team. "And maybe that was the silver lining of him not being able to participate right away. He was able to spend more time with the guys in the meeting rooms [than] had it been in a more traditional sense where when a player gets traded and they learn the things and they’re ready to go into the game. So, I thought that was a strong point for him."

Lattimore will get his first taste of NFC East action against the Eagles in Week 16 and the Commanders will be hoping that his presence continues to be a positive one in the secondary.
