Detroit Red Wings’ Patrick Kane and J.T. Compher trade spots on the IR

Patrick Kane will be back on the ice for the Detroit Red Wings.

Kane has been activated from injured reserve and has been replaced by fellow forward J.T. Compher, the team announced ahead of Sunday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks.

After experiencing an upper-body injury on Jan. 21 against the Philadelphia Flyers, Kane was placed on IR on Monday to make room for Dominik Shine.

Kane is the Red Wings’ fifth-leading scorer with 11 goals and 19 assists in 42 games.

Compher suffered an upper-body injury on Jan. 25 after a hard hit from the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Emil Lilleberg that resulted in a two-game suspension for the defenceman.

Compher has been placed on IR retroactive to Jan. 25.

The 29-year-old has six goals and 15 assists in 48 games this season.
