Devils acquire D Brian Dumoulin from Ducks for prospect, pick

The Devils have acquired defenceman Brian Dumoulin from the Anaheim Ducks for a second-round pick and forward prospect Herman Traff, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Thursday.
Dumoulin, a six-foot-four defenceman, has been a steady presence on the Ducks’ blue line this season, tallying two goals and 14 assists over 61 games. He has suited up for every game while logging an average of 19:48 time on ice.
The 33-year-old has played 12 seasons in the NHL since being drafted 51st overall in the second round of the 2009 draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.
He has 27 goals and 144 assists over 687 career games, with most coming over a 10-year span with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He won two Stanley Cups with the Penguins in 2016 and 2017.
Traff, meanwhile, is a 19-year-old playing for HV71 Jr. in the Swedish Junior Hockey League. He was drafted in the third round, 91st overall, by the Devils in the 2024 draft.
