Ducks’ Zegras to have hearing for hit on Red Wings’ Rasmussen

Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras will have a hearing on Monday for delivering a hit to the head on Michael Rasmussen of the Detroit Red Wings.

The incident occurred with 2:41 remaining in the second period during Anaheim’s 5-4 overtime loss Sunday.

Zegras appeared to catch an unsuspecting Rasmussen in the head in the neutral zone.

Rasmussen, who scored his ninth goal of the season earlier in the period, did not return to the game. No penalty was called.

“When a player gets a hit to the head and doesn’t return, it is never a good sign,” Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan told reporters after the game. “He’s still getting checked, but he’s in good spirits. We’ll see how he is (Monday).”

Detroit was leading 4-2 at the time of the incident. Anaheim came back to tie it with two goals in the third period. Patrick Kane scored the winner for the Red Wings with a minute remaining in OT.
