The Calgary Flames assigned veteran defenceman Tyson Barrie to the Calgary Wranglers of the American Hockey League on Friday.

The Calgary Flames assigned veteran defenceman Tyson Barrie to the Calgary Wranglers of the American Hockey League, the team announced on Friday.
Barrie was eligible to be sent down after he cleared waivers earlier in the day.
The 33-year-old from Victoria signed a one-year contract with the Flames ahead of the regular season after he was granted a professional tryout.
He has played in only 13 games with the club and registered one goal and two assists.
Barrie also has one goal and two assists in two games with the Wranglers this season.
He has accumulated 508 points (110 goals and 398 assists) in 822 career games over 14 seasons with the Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators and Flames.
The Flames (26-21-8) return to action Sunday at home against the San Jose Sharks.
