Flames snap skid with win over Sharks

The Calgary Flames will head east with a winning feeling.

Calgary ended a three-game losing streak with a much-needed 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night.

The Flames are now just one point back of the Vancouver Canucks for the final wild-card playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Flames defenceman Joel Hanley broke a 2-2 tie with his first of the season at 13:28 of the third period.

Dustin Wolf was strong in net, while Nazem Kadri and Kevin Rooney also scored for the home side.

The Flames now hit the road for a five-game eastern U.S. trip. It starts Tuesday in Washington against the league-leading Capitals.

More to come.
