How Would an Openweight UFC Tournament Go Now?
recently I was thinking about BJ Penn's career, specifically his fight against Lyoto Machida at heavyweight. BJ Penn, a 5'6 natural featherweight contended pretty decently with Lyoto who fought at Light Heavyweight, and it got me to wonder if any modern fighters would be skilled enough to do anything similar. Obviously bigger guys are going to be favored, but smaller guys do have a speed and skill advantage. Imo Light heavyweight would probably be the most successful division overall just because heavyweight is so void of talent but there could definitely be some interesting results. Who would win an openweight UFC tournament nowadays, and could you see there be any interesting upsets or dark horses? submitted by /u/Sweepthisall [link] [comments]
