Hurricanes advance to Round 2 with double-overtime win over Devils
The Carolina Hurricanes are the first team to punch their ticket to Round 2. With a 5-4 double overtime win against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, the Hurricanes took a 4-1 series victory and will await the winner of the Washington-Montreal series, in which the Capitals hold a 3-1 lead. Sebastian Aho scored the game-winner. The Devils got off to a quick start, with goals from Dawson Mercer, Timo Meier and Stefan Noesen to finish the first period with a 3-0 lead. The Hurricanes responded in the second period, however, scoring three quick goals to even the score. Devils captain Nico Hischier and Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov also scored.
