New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov remains sidelined indefinitely with a lower-body injury, the team announced Saturday.

The 36-year-old last played on Nov. 29, allowing five goals in an overtime loss to the Washington Capitals.

General manager Lou Lamoriello said that Varlamov is no longer skating after he was taking shots on the ice.

Marcus Hogberg had been the backup to Ilya Sorokin with Varlamov out, but he is sidelined for four weeks with an upper-body injury.

The 30-year-old has a 2-2 record with a 1.45 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage in seven appearances.

The Islanders have been hit hard with injuries with Ryan Pulock, Noah Dobson and Mike Reilly sidelined long-term.

Lamoriello said that Dobson and Pulock should start skating during the 4 Nations Face-Off break.
