The New York Islanders are cutting ties with one of the longest-serving executives in the NHL.

The Islanders will not renew the contract of president/general manager Lou Lamoriello, the team announced Tuesday.

Lamoriello, 82, was hired by the Islanders in 2018 after three seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. New York missed the playoffs this season.

Operating partner John Collins will lead a search to find the next GM, the team said.

More to come.
