Jesse Winker leaves Monday's game early due to apparent injury

Mets designated hitter/outfielderJesse Winkerexited Monday's split squad game against the Rays in the bottom of the third inning after appearing to come up lame during his first at-bat.

While popping out in the first inning, Winker stumbled out of the box a bit, appearing to tweak something.

He remained in the dugout for a bit before heading to the clubhouse.

Winker was replaced at DH by prospect Ryan Clifford.

The expectation has been that Winker will be the Mets' regular designated hitter when the regular season begins.
