In yet another move ahead of Friday’s deadline, the reigning Cup champs have acquired goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen from the Winnipeg Jets for goaltender Chris Driedger, the teams announced Thursday
Kahkonen joined the Jets earlier this season after he was placed on waivers by the Colorado Avalanche. He was then sent to the American Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose.
In 22 games with the Moose this season, the 28-year-old has a 6-14 record with a 3.29 goals-against average and a .885 save percentage.
He made one appearance with the Avalanche in the NHL in October — a losing effort against the Tampa Bay Lightning that saw him concede four goals on 20 shots.
Driedger, meanwhile, is set to return to his hometown of Winnipeg. The 30-year-old has made 20 appearances with the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers and has a 10-6-4 record with a 2.97 GAA and .878 save percentage.
