They signed defensive back Jaylin Simpson to the active roster from the Colts' practice squad.
Charles tore his ACL in punt coverage against the Dolphins on Sunday.
He has five tackles on special teams this season, tied for the most on the Jets with Chazz Surratt. Charles had 214 snaps on special teams and 10 on offense this season.
Charles first signed with the Jets in 2022.
Simpson was drafted in the fourth round of 2024. He didn't make the roster out of training camp but signed to Indianapolis' practice squad.
He has not played in a regular-game this season.
