49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has 11 catches for 85 yards over the team's last four games and he referenced his lack of production in a since-deleted social media post Monday.
Samuel wrote on X that he is "not struggling at all just not getting the ball" and then followed up by writing that he wasn't "hating" on any teammates who might be playing a bigger role, but the sentiment suggests Samuel is frustrated by his current role in the team's offense. During an appearance on KNBR Tuesday, 49ers General Manager John Lynch was asked about Samuel's comment.
Lynch said that there are a lot of things "that you can get caught up in" over the course of a season, but that he thinks Samuel is "in a good place from the way he's working" and that the 49ers will need him this week and down the stretch if they are going to build on their Week 14 win.
"I think people are becoming more familiar with it," Lynch said, via 49ersWebzone.com. "Deebo's a really good football player. He's created such a high standard for himself that, I think, frustration mounts. But he's made so many plays for us. I think we've got to give this guy some grace and bring him along because we need him the rest of the way. We're going to need him Thursday night."
The 49ers face the Rams on Thursday night in a bid to get to 7-7 on the season. If they can't, their postseason chances won't look good so this would be a good week for Samuel to find his old form.
