Jonathan Taylor lets go of ball too soon, Colts TD comes off the board

Colts running back Jonathan Taylor had a chance to put the Colts up by two scores in the third quarter of Sunday's game in Denver, but he began celebrating a little too soon.

Taylor was ruled to have scored on a 41-yard run, but replays showed Taylor dropped the ball before he crossed the plane and the fumble bounced out of the end zone for a touchback. It was a brutal error that allowed the Broncos to regain momentum after Bo Nix threw it away.

Nix sailed a pass to wide receiver Courtland Sutton on the first possession of the third quarter and Colts corner Samuel Womack picked it off for Nix's second turnover of the day.

It looked like that would have put the Broncos in serious trouble, but Taylor's premature celebration made sure things remained tight. The Colts forced a quick punt, but their offense will not have wide receiver Alec Pierce the rest of the way. He's been ruled out with a concussion.
