J.T. Miller on being traded to Rangers by Canucks: ‘Crazy lucky’

Start spreading the news, J.T. Miller loves being a part of New York.

The American forward, speaking on media day at the 4 Nations Face-Off, spoke in glowing terms about New York and being back with the Rangers on Tuesday.

“Tons of friends around the area and the welcoming I got coming back was astounding,” Miller said. “Just so much support from my family and I just feel crazy lucky everything worked out the way it did.”

After a couple months of stories detailing a reported rift with fellow Canucks star Elias Pettersson, Miller was traded to the Rangers on Jan. 31 in a blockbuster deal.

The move brought Miller back to the team where he started his NHL career. The Rangers drafted him 15th overall in 2011.

Miller has two goals and two assists in five games with the Rangers after notching nine goals and 26 assists for 35 points in 40 games with the Canucks this season.

Miller will get a chance to square off against Pettersson when the Americans battle Sweden next Monday in Boston in the final game of the round-robin.

The U.S. plays its first game Thursday against Finland in Montreal.
