Toronto Maple Leafs forward Calle Jarnkrok will be out month-to-month following groin and sports hernia surgery, the team announced Monday.
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Calle Jarnkrok will be out month-to-month after undergoing groin and sports hernia surgery, the team announced Monday.
Jarnkrok has been on the long-term injured reserve since the beginning of the regular season.
“He’s got to get it fixed. He’ll be out a while,” Leafs coach Craig Berube told reporters Monday. “It’s too bad because he’s a player we liked and can help us. He really hasn’t had an opportunity to do that.”
Berube said the hope is Jarnkrok can return this season.
The 33-year-old from Gavle, Sweden, recorded 10 goals and 11 assists in 52 games with the Maple Leafs last season.
Jarnkrok is in the third season of a four-year, $8.4-million contract he signed as an unrestricted free agent on July 15, 2022.
He has 301 points (136 goals and 165 assists) in 699 career games over 11 seasons with the Nashville Predators, Seattle Kraken, Calgary Flames and Maple Leafs.
