Max Domi‘s return appears imminent.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday that the 29-year-old forward has been activated from injured reserve. In a corresponding move, the team assigned forward Nikita Grebenkin to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies.
Domi was placed on the injured reserve on Nov. 16, when he suffered a lower-body injury in a 4-3 overtime win against the Edmonton Oilers. He has missed the team’s last eight games, with the Leafs going 5-3 in his absence.
After the team’s morning skate, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said that Domi would be a game-time decision for Tuesday’s game against the New Jersey Devils.
In his limited action this season, Domi has yet to find the back of the net but has six assists in 19 games. He had nine goals and 38 assists in the 2023-24 season, his first in Toronto.
Grebenkin, one of the youngsters who got a shot with the big club due to a number of injuries to Maple Leaf forwards, played in seven games and did not register a point.
The Maple Leafs (16-9-2) take on former head coach Sheldon Keefe and the Devils (18-10-2) on Tuesday night.
