The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed defenceman Chris Tanev on injured reserve.
Tanev suffered an upper-body injury against the Boston Bruins and was listed as day-to-day. Tanev exited during the first period after a hit from Bruins centre John Beecher along the boards. After the game, he was seen leaving the arena with his right arm in a sling.
The 35-year-old has been a key piece along Toronto’s blue line this season, tallying two goals and 15 assists across 57 games for the Atlantic-leading Maple Leafs.
The Leafs also activated forward Connor Dewar from injured reserve.
Dewar has been goalless in 29 games this season but has three assists, adding 78 hits, fifth among Toronto forwards.
