Maple Leafs’ Pacioretty out vs. Lightning, day to day with upper-body injury

Max Pacioretty will not be in the lineup when the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday.

Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube told reporters after Monday’s morning skate that the veteran forward is day to day with an upper-body injury.

In Saturday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, Pacioretty appeared to be in discomfort after taking a puck to the side of the head. He did stay in the game and finished with three shots on goal and 10:19 of ice time in Toronto’s 7-3 win.

In 32 games with the Leafs this season, the veteran forward has five goals and seven assists.

Pacioretty, 36, previously missed time this season with a lower-body injury.

Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll is expected to get the call between the pipes on Monday, his 24th start of the season.

The Maple Leafs come into Monday’s game seven points ahead of the Lightning in the Atlantic Division, but Tampa Bay has three games in hand.
