Maple Leafs recall Nikita Grebenkin, assign Marshall Rifai to AHL

Nikita Grebenkin’s stay in the AHL didn’t last long.
The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled Grebenkin from the Toronto Marlies on Thursday, the team announced.
To make room on the roster, the Leafs sent defenceman Marshall Rifai to the Marlies.
Grebenkin was assigned to the Marlies in order to make room for Max Domi to be activated off injured reserve on Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils.
Grebenkin, one of the youngsters who got a shot with the big club due to a number of injuries to Maple Leaf forwards, has played in seven games with Toronto this season and has not registered a point.
