As they work to finish their trade deadline work, the Toronto Maple Leafs opened some cap space to fit in the additions of Brandon Carlo and Scott Laughton.

Toronto traded forward Connor Dewar and defenceman Conor Timmins to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2025 draft.

Dewar has struggled with injuries this season in Toronto, only appearing in 31 games and logging three assists. The 25-year-old landed with the Maple Leafs ahead of the 2024 deadline for a 2026 fourth-round and Dmity Ovchinnokov.

Timmins has skated in 51 games with the Maple Leafs in 2024-25, recording two goals and eight points while posting a plus-2 rating.

The 26-year-old arrived in Toronto in November 2022 through a trade with the Arizona Coyotes.
