Mets' Jose Siri day-to-day after leaving Saturday's game with left shin contusion

Mets centerfielder Jose Siri left Saturday’s game vs. the Athletics with a shin contusion.

Siri went down in a heap of pain after fouling the first pitch off his left leg during his at-bat with two outs in the top of the second.

The speedster remained down for quite some time before needing assistance from trainers limping back to the dugout and then was carted to the clubhouse in left-centerfield.

Tyrone Taylor took over the at-bat and struck out swinging two pitches later.

The team announced shortly after that Siri is day-to-day.

"I'm in a lot of pain," Siri said through an interpreter after the Mets' 3-1 loss. "It got me right there, right on the bone, pretty much. So, right now, I feel like I don't have any power in that leg."

Through 10 games, Siri has logged 20 at-bats. He has one hit, four walks and five runs.

"It's the first time it's ever happened to me, so I can't really judge it based on how it's going to be in the next couple days," Siri said through an interpreter. "I think what we should do is just wait and see how it feels in the next few days and then we'll have a better idea."
