Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead has been dealing with knee issues all season and they forced him out of Sunday's overtime win over the Jets.
Armstead briefly returned after his initial departure, but gave way to rookie Patrick Paul after five total snaps. Armstead looked dejected on the sideline, which led to a question for head coach Mike McDaniel at Monday's press conference about whether Armstead needs surgery to fully repair the injury or if he just needs to rest.
"Yeah, it's a rest thing," McDaniel said, via a transcript from the team. "I think you might have seen his frustration level to try to contribute in this particular game and it's something that he can't control, so you talk to him about – I've been very proud of how he's handled all of it because he's probably at a new level of maturity to handle these types of things based upon his necessity. I think we'll let it cool down a little bit and what that means for time moving forward, I'm going to make sure that my communication is steadfast with him, and we'll play out all the scenarios with our group."
Armstead has not been practicing in recent weeks in order to be well enough to play in games, but it sounds like his time off may extend to this week's game against the Texans as well.
