Odell Beckham Jr., Dolphins reach "non-injury settlement"

To get out of Miami, receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. gave something up.

That's the clear takeaway from the official designation applied to his release: "Non-injury settlement."

While the details haven't been disclosed, it likely means that Beckham has relinquished all rights to further payment from the Dolphins, either under his contractual guarantee or the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

If his contract is claimed, he'll still get the balance of his league-minimum $1.21 million base salary, from his new team. If unclaimed, he'll get whatever he gets on the open market, likely without the Dolphins owing him anything if he doesn't find a taker.

That continues to be the overriding question. Will he find a new home? Multiple playoff contenders need help at receiver. For Beckham, however, it's fair to wonder whether he's fallen so far that there's really nothing he brings to the table at this point.

He's done enough to merit a look-see. Why not give him a tryout and see what he can do? He has playoff experiences and he is usually beloved by teammates in the locker room.
