It took nearly a month, but the Edmonton Oilers (35-21-4) are finally back in the win column.
Edmonton snapped a six-game skid on Saturday night thanks to a 3-1 win over the Hurricanes (34-22-4) in Carolina.
Adam Henrique opened the scoring in the first by deflecting in a shot by Mattias Janmark for his eighth goal of the season. Corey Perry then added another marker in the second, wiring home his 13th of the year.
Evan Bouchard added an empty-netter at the buzzer, picking up his 10th goal and Edmonton’s first power-play goal of 2025.
While Sebastian Aho did make things interesting, cutting the Oilers’ lead in half with a tip-in at the 4:26 mark of the third period, the Hurricanes couldn’t get any closer. Aho nearly knotted things up with a breakaway chance in the final minute, but was denied by Calvin Pickard who was stout between the pipes all night for Edmonton.
The Oilers goaltender picked up his 15th win of the season after saving 35 of the 36 shots he faced.
The victory marks Edmonton’s first win since beating the Chicago Blackhawks on Feb. 5 and first since returning from the 4 Nations Face-Off break.
