Oilers’ Hyman out 4-7 days, latest on Arvidsson, Nurse

Zach Hyman has avoided a long-term injury.

Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch told reporters on Thursday that Hyman will be out for four to seven days with an undisclosed injury. That means Hyman will miss Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Wild and Saturday’s game versus the New York Rangers.

The winger left late in the second period Tuesday and didn’t return after colliding with Ottawa Senators defenceman Nick Jensen while trying to remain onside.

Hyman, 32, is having a slow start to the season compared to his 54-goal season in 2023-24. In 20 games so far, he’s scored just three goals and registered five assists for eight points.

Meanwhile, fellow forward Viktor Arvidsson also will be out at least two more games after missing the previous four with an undisclosed injury.

Defenceman Darnell Nurse (concussion) has been ruled out for Thursday’s game, but there is no further timeline. He was injured on a hit by Toronto’s Ryan Reaves on Saturday night.

The Maple Leafs tough guy was suspended five games for the play.
