Oilers’ Janmark, Ekholm miss practice as Klingberg re-joins team

The Edmonton Oilers offered updates on a pair of Mattiases on Wednesday.

Mattias Janmark, the forward, missed practice with an illness. Mattias Ekholm, the defenceman, remains in Edmonton and is unlikely to join the team on its current road trip as he recovers from an undisclosed injury, head coach Kris Knoblauch told reporters.

Blue liner John Klingberg also re-joined the team after missing three straight games with an undisclosed injury of his own.

It is unclear whether Janmark or Klingberg will be available when the Oilers visit the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.

Janmark, 32, has two goals and 15 assists in 63 games on the season.

Ekholm, 34, missed the past three games with his ailment. In 60 games, he’s recorded eight goals and 19 helpers.

Klingberg, who was signed mid-season after recovering from hip surgery, has appeared in 10 games with the Oilers, notching one goal and three assists.

After New Jersey, the Oilers’ road trip wraps up in New York with games against the Islanders on Friday and the Rangers on Sunday.
